The seventeenth letter of the alphabet In the game of Scrabble, a letter which only ever appears when all the U’s have been used.

Quaint

Unusual and charming.

Anything not properly understood by an American or, alliteratively, a source material for a Walt Disney movie.

Quality

That which distinguishes something as being better than something else.

Mostly this will mean a 500% mark-up on the basic price but it could, however, be anything which appears on a television channel designated with an even number rather than an odd number. The one thing it is not, is any work of art produced in America.

Quality newspaper

A newspaper with pages double the size of a tabloid and it’s name printed in black rather than red. A newspaper which only features pictures of naked women if it is in the context of culture.

Quality time

A period of time which is valuable and should be treasured.

That time when the children, the next door neighbours, ex lovers or double glazing salesmen are not in your living room.

Quarter

A one fourth part of something.

Macho men give no quarter, most women give their all, which says it all.

Queen

A female ruler.

When the said queen is a woman it will be she who rules a country. When it is a man it will be he who rules in bed.

Quest for peace

A desire not to have a war.

A lot of slap up meals for people who are not fighting the war.

Quiz show

A test of general knowledge.

When on television it is a test designed to see who has the least creative mind. Or again it could be an entertainment form wherein, the harder the questions the smaller the prizes.
